They were used to store trousseau items like clothing. Recognizable by large brass hardware, and intricate carvings.
Typically crafted from solid woods like elm, poplar, or cedar, known for durability.
Built with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, without nails or glue, for strength and longevity.
